Bristol teenager Judd Trump was the most impressive performer on the opening day of his Championship League group at Crondon Park Golf Club in Essex.
Steve Davis and Ricky Walden also performed admirably, earning 2-1 records from their three matches, with Walden also having the day's only century - a 134 effort in his 3-1 defeat to Trump.
Former world champion Graeme Dott had a mixed day - winning one match, drawing two and losing one - but Joe Swail, Matthew Stevens and Liang Wenbo have work to do after losing two matches apiece.
The group will conclude on Tuesday, with the players competing for the seventh and final spot in the Championship League final group which begins on Wednesday.
John Higgins, Mark King, Mark Selby, Mark Allen, Joe Perry and Stuart Bingham have already qualified for the final group.
The winner of the final event will be granted an automatic spot in next season's Premier League.
