Tottenham Hotspur will play host to Shaktar Donetsk in the return leg of their Round of 32 UEFA Cup matches. Spurs will have it all to do in this contest as they must win big after losing the first leg match by a score of 2-0 at the RSC Olympiyskiy Stadium in the Ukraine.
That first match saw Shaktar Donetsk score both of their goals over the final 11 minutes. Second half substitute Seleznov combined with Jadson to provide the home side with their win. Tottenham Hotspur boss Harry Redknapp had gone with a very different squad as he decided to rest 9 players and the results were plain to see as the visitors struggled to take get into the match. In fact, Spurs could consider themselves fortunate to have escaped with just a 2-0 defeat.
Thanks to their win Shaktar Donetsk now travel to Spurs with the luxury of being able to lose this return leg by 1 goal and still advancing to the Round of 16. Shaktar had reached this stage of the UEFA Cup after finishing in 3rd place of their Group in the UEFA Champions League. As for Tottenham Hotspur, they had finished in 2nd place of Group D, just behind Serie A's Udinese and ahead of NEC of the Netherlands.
