Manchester City are in the drivers' seat as they return home to play host to FC Copenhagen in the return leg of their Round of 32 UEFA Cup clash. The Citizens were able to hold out for a most important 2-2 draw in the opening leg match and a draw at home by a score of 0-0 or 1-1 will now be enough to see them through to the Round of 16. FC Copenhagen will have it all to do this week but as amazing as it may seem, things could have been much worse for them.
In truth, the Danish side were a bit lucky as it took stoppage time goal from Martin Vingaard to salvage the point for them in the opener. Manchester City had been the better side with the Brazilian dynamo Robinho and Wright-Phillips coming extremely close to extending the lead to 1-3 during the second half. Still, the two goals scored at Parken Stadium are a big lift for the side managed by Mark Hughes as they return home.
FC Copenhagen had advanced to this stage by finishing 3rd in Group G during the group stage. That group also included Saint-Eitenne of France and Spanish giants Valencia. As for Manchester City, they were the winners of Group A by finishing ahead of FC Twente from the Netherlands and Paris Saint-Germain.
