The home side Rangers are coming off of a loss at home at Ibrox to Inverness by a score of 0-1. As a result of that loss, the side managed by Walter Smith have dropped out of a first place tie with Celtic and now sit in 2nd place of the Scottish Premier League log with 60 points, 3 back of Celtic. The Teddy Bears were able to advance to this stage of the competition after a 0-4 win away to Forfar in the 5th Round.
The visiting side Hamilton were also losers at home in their previous match as they were beaten by Hibernian by a 0-1 final. The loss has the side managed by Billy Reid 8th out of 12 clubs in the Scottish Premier League with 32 points. The Accies were able to advance to the quarter final stage of the Scottish FA Cup after a 2-1 win at home over Dundee United at New Douglas Park.
