Manchester United will be without full back Patrice Evra when they take on Wigan Athletic in the only Premier League match on Wednesday.
Evra limped off the field soon after supplying the cross for Wayne
Rooney to score United’s second goal against Chelsea on the weekend and
the French international has been diagnosed with a foot injury and will
be out of action for at least three weeks.
United could reduce Liverpool’s lead at the top of the table to just
two points if they manage to beat Wigan on Wednesday. The Red Devils
have won all of the six league encounters against Wigan and are
favorites to secure all three points again this week though the Latics
could put up a tough fight following an excellent run of form.
Wes Brown and Rio Ferdinand continue to remain on the sidelines
which will mean that Gary Neville and Jonny Evans are expected to start
the game. Wigan manager Steve Bruce is expected to name an unchanged
squad that has helped his side win six of their last seven league
matches.
